What do you do if you wake up at 2a.m. and the heating system is out? The home is cold and you’re standing there in the middle of the night with no other resource of heat. You need emergency furnace repair, and fast!
Your first thought possibly goes to the expense of urgent heating repair services or, even worse, a new heating system. But, before you start fretting, let’s undergo some damage control steps you can try before calling North Star Heating & Air Conditioning.
North Star Heating & Air Conditioning is here to help you with all of your heating and cooling requirements. We are a fully-licensed, locally owned and functioned, HVAC professional serving Sandy, UT and surrounding areas. Our team of HVAC experts can deal with anything from routine servicing to new system installations.
(1) Check the thermostat:
Many modern regulators run off of batteries. If the batteries go out, the heating unit is not going to get the signal to switch on. Changing batteries is easy to forget and, fortunately, easy to treat. Change the batteries and see if the furnace kicks on before calling for emergency furnace repair.
(2) Check the filter:
If the furnace is running full force, but you are only getting a bit of heat coming out, you may need to change the filtering system. A clogged filter stops the free circulation of air in and out of the furnace, which triggers the flow of heated air to decrease significantly. Check the heating system filter and change it if it’s blocked.
(3) Check the breaker:
Almost all furnaces are on a separate circuit tied into your breaker box. If the breaker trips, it will stop the furnace from functioning. Confirm that the breaker is on. If it’s tripped, turn it fully off, then back on again. If the breaker stays in place, the furnace should start up. If it doesn’t, give us a call.
